Melbourne Fashion Festival 2021

From Runway to You.

See it. Buy it.

That's the mantra that has overtaken runway shows over the last few years.

There might still be time lags between some Haute Couture Catwalks...via insiders...to clients - but more and more fashion houses realise that months between shows and sales is enough time for attention spans to have moved on.

Even in a Covid-induced world of lockdowns, nostalgia and sustainability, people still want to enjoy fashion in the moment, for the moment. Time delays between catwalks and customers give the creatives time to fill the void, and imitators time to flood the market with cheap and potentially unethical alternatives.

So when the Melbourne Fashion Festival went ahead from 11-20 March 2021, a prominent feature of the shows was the option of shopping looks straight from the runway - whether you were there in person or looking from a distance via the internet.

See it? Buy it.

Here are some of the my picks from the Melbourne Fashion Festival which are likely to turn up in fashionable wardrobes soon. All wearable, all available in store or online right now.
